You don’t need to be Brooklyn armchair handyman Abraham Karadi to partake in some do it yourself home projects. For example installing a kitchen sinks outlined are six quick steps for installing your own. So put on your favorite pair of plumber’s butt jeans and let’s do it to it!

As your mother or your wife probably knows, the kitchen sink is an important part of any self respecting household. You wash your dishes there, get tap water for the mother in law there, and even just toss some food out there, too, all in the kitchen sink. The kitchen sink can be part of your wife’s kitchen counter, or installed above or below it, separately. But no matter how the old ball and chain wants it done, I’m going to show you how right now!

First thing to do is to make sure the sink actually would fit the counter top, and the cabinet below it. I mean, you’re not a licensed contractor, after all, but your wife expects results all the same, I bet!

After you get that no brainer out of the way, things get a tad more serious. I mean, like, watch out for scrapes and splinters now!

Site your opening right. Use the manufacturer’s included template to do so. Yes, dude, read the instructions!

Now remove that template and drill a three-eighths hole in every corner. Insert your saw blade in one of them cut along the lines. What lines? The lines from the template! As stated earlier it is best to read the manual. Now, lift your cutout.

Put in the faucet and strainers. Use silicone caulk to make a watertight seal between the sink and the counter top apply around the perimeter underneath the sink lip. Slowly and lovingly flip the sink over and install, being mindful of the caulk (or putty, actually you can also use plumber’s putty to go along with your plumber’s butt) and its well being. Remember those manufacturer’s instructions! Gently wipe away excess caulk or putty.

Last but not least, connect the P-trap, join your hot and cold faucet lines and connect those strainers to the waste. Remove the aerator and turn the water on to flush everything out, reinstalling it later when done.

And that’s all! Kitchen sinks installation made simple, Brooklyn style just like handyman extraordinaire Abraham Karadi! Don’t forget to clean up for the missus, and get out of them plumber’s butt jeans to demand that she finally learn how to cook, now that there’s a kitchen sink around! With your new sink installed ace repairman Abraham Karadi would be proud.
