There are many uses of double sided foam tape, but its most common use is for it to be used as gasketing tape. Foam tape will seal an area between two parts, for example a door and a frame, and will prevent gases or liquids from escaping. Yet doubled sided foam tape isn’t entirely airtight or watertight, it will provide an acceptable amount of protection to stop these substances.

Foam tape is also used within the medical world, the tape is used in circumstances in which standard bandages and tapes are unable to provide the level of support that is needed for the patient. This type of tape is often made from elastic and stretches in all directions. This ability of the tape definitely provides the patient with better comfort than any other bandage could. Foam tape that is used here will be water resistant and treated so it is hypoallergenic. Double sided foam tape is not needed as much in this area but foam tape is used quite often in medicine.

Most people use double sided foam tape to keep their home warmer and use it as a weather stripping material. The tape can be placed along windows and doors within the home; it creates a better seal and keeps the house warmer during the colder winter months. It is well worth looking into how much this tape could save you in money if you prevented some heat loss. Doors and windows often loose lots of heat, so to reduce your energy bill, double sided foam tape may be a great solution. Windows that need to be opened within a home should use normal foam tape as opposed to double sided as double sided foam tape will seal the window completely.

When you purchase foam tape it will be available in a roll and will have a backing that needs peeling off before it is used. Peeling this protective layer should be saved right up to the point that you actually need to use the tape. Because of the depth of foam tape the lengths that it is available in differ largely to other types. Foam tape comes in packaging of lengths around 8 feet, so if you are weatherproofing your home you may need more tape than is available in a roll. So it is important to check how much tape you will need to coat windows and doors within the house.
