Living in a rustic way when you are on vacation or just for a weekend in your cabin is alright for some people, but the majority of people will want it to have at least some of the same comforts that you have at home. You want it to be cozy and inviting and just because it is a cabin does not mean that it can not have some style too. Furnishings that suit the overall cabin look are what is needed, as well as those creature comforts that will make your stay easier to enjoy.
Furniture is a large part of cabin decoration, but when most people think of cabin furniture they might visualize old furniture that has been discarded from their main home and brought up to the cabin to serve a further purpose. This is alright if they are pieces that you really can not use any longer at your main dwelling place, but can not seem to make yourself part with.
Today you can have high quality, handcrafted or factory made furniture pieces that fit well with the overall cabin feel. They can be made from cedar, oak, or a number of other woods that are commonplace in country homes. They can have clean lines or they can be made using the curves and lines of the wood in its natural form. You would be amazed at how beautiful and charming this kind of furniture can be. A bed frame made from tree branches in their natural form will look like the forest has grown right in your bedroom.
Of course furniture is a must and you need a comfortable bed, sofa, and dining table, but you also need some other things that might be considered luxuries for a cabin. If you are not the cook it over an open fire type of person, you will probably want a microwave and a regular stove. If there is really only so much star gazing you want to do, you will likely want to have a television and some kind of satellite reception.
If you are going to have a working weekend or vacation, you might even need the Internet. You can have all of these things in a cabin these days almost no matter where it is thanks to satellite technology and wireless connections. Just because you are staying a cabin in the wild does not mean you necessarily have to feel like it.
