The second, a farmer’s sink, is normally placed on the top of the working area, and since there are no trappings in the front, one does not have to lean over to use it. These sinks tend to be deeper than the normal ones.

Several kinds of materials are used to make sinks. The most popular are glass, porcelain and stainless steel. There are people who opt for sinks made out of copper, concrete, marble, granite and sometimes even wood.
Stainless steel sinks are long-lasting, easy to clean and inexpensive. They are found in commercial and corporate establishments and kitchens. They undergo a lot of wear and tear and do not get damaged when you pour very hot or very cold items into them. One drawback to the stainless steel sink is that a lot of noise is generated when it is used. The clanking of the cutlery and the crockery touching the sides can irritate some people.
Enamel over cast iron sinks are used in both kitchens and bathrooms. They are durable, heat-resistant and can be molded into all different shapes and colors. The only problem is that they can be easily damaged by sharp objects. Once this happens, the cast-iron underneath the enamel gets corroded and the sink is a write-off. Be careful when cleaning it, so that the surface doesn’t get dull. Solid ceramic sinks are an alternative which have all the qualities of enamel over cast iron in addition to a surface that won’t corrode.
Plastic sinks can be cheap or expensive. The cheap ones are simply created with injection-molded thermoplastics and are mostly found in laundry rooms. They do not have very many features except for their affordability.
