When you want to learn guitar chords, there are several things that you need to know that can help you along your way. Learning guitar is easy if you apply yourself and engage in regular practice. It is the regular practice that trains your fingers to hit exactly on the right string and the right fret, all at the same time. With practice, you will achieve great skill levels in a relatively short time.

One of the secrets of learning guitar is to focus on three guitar chords at a time. These chords are the major chords of a particular key. For example, in the key of D, the major chords are D, A and G. This is easy to remember by ingraining the word DAG into your brain. By simply learning these three chords for a start, you will be able to play thousands of songs. That may seem a little unbelievable, but it’s quite true. Once you start looking online for lyrics with the chords, you will be absolutely amazed at how many songs use just three chords. Guitar Chords

The Seven Key Tips To Learn Guitar Chords

1. Cut those long fingernails. They will make it difficult for you to press the strings correctly. Your finger nails need to be really short so you are pressing on the strings of the guitar with the flesh at the top of your fingers.

2. Do not let your fingers lie down while playing for they tend to mute some strings. This is the most common mistake done by newbies. You need to press down directly on the strings with the tops of your fingers. Using the side of your fingers can also make playing chords difficult as you may run out of finger room on the fret board.

3. Be sure that your fingertips are the ones that are in contact with the strings and not the place where fingerprints are taken. Maintain the straight arch. Aside from the fact that this is exhausting, this can also be painful and difficult in the initial stages, but will pay off as soon as calluses are produced.

4. Remember that you should press the notes altogether. Make sure that no strings must be left out that should have a finger on them.

5. Practice, practice, practice! Memorize each chord pattern. Try changing the chords from one to another as quickly as you can. This will build muscle memory.

6. Do not rush yourself. If you do, it will just frustrate you if you do not get it. Choose songs that are easier to play to start with and build your skill.

7. Do not overdo the practice in time. It is best to practice for ten or fifteen minutes a day over four periods than an hour at once. You will be able to build your practice times as your fingers harden.

Stick at it and your practice will pay off. The guitar is a wonderful instrument and it is great fun. Your skill levels will build as you learn guitar chords and are able to play many more songs.
