People that smoke cigarettes in their home are usually pretty careful while they are doing it, but smoking in the house still ends up causing many fires every year where family members are hurt or killed. Smoking inside where you live everyday is really just not worth the risk because accidents do happen because of a lot of things and at least if you do not smoke in your home you will be eliminating one way a fire could start. It is so much smarter to just take it outside if you have to smoke.

Starting a house fire with a cigarette is not the only damage that can be done in a home because of smoking either. A common issue with smoking in the home is the way it makes it smell. You house will never have a really fresh and clean smell as long as someone smokes. After the smell is the nastiness that comes with it too. Constant smoking in a house causes the walls, ceilings and everything else to become coated with a layer of tar residue that is in the smoke. The walls will have a yellow tinge to them in the beginning and eventually it will become a sickening brown color that represents what the insides of the smokers lungs look like. Not only the smokers lungs will look this way, but anyone else who lives in the home with them as well.

Parents that smoke inside the house around their children have no clue as to how bad it really is for the children who are constantly breathing in their cigarette smoke. You might as well go ahead and light one up for them too because it amounts to the same thing. This is one reason that many children have a lot of respiratory problems and develop things like bronchitis and asthma more easily than other children. It is a shame that even when some parents know how bad smoking is around their kids, they continue to do it anyway when it would be so easy to just not do it. They should go outside to smoke where kids will not be exposed to the smoke and toxic elements that are in it.

Then there is always the risk that you could start a fire. It will not likely be because you meant to, but the fire can fall of a cigarette so easily. If it does and you are not aware of it at the time, that ash can smolder for a long time before it ignites into a blaze depending on where it landed. People accidentally empty ashtrays into a garbage can a lot when there is still a smoldering butt in it. Falling asleep with a cigarette is a big cause of house fires. Why risk any of these things taking place just because you want to smoke? If you smoke, do it outside your home and even then you still have to be careful.
