The Advantages Of Constructing Your Home From The Ground Up

So, the time has come for you and your family to move on. You have outgrown your current home, and you need a residence which will accommodate a larger family and/or changing needs. Most of us have been there at one point or another. I can definitely speak from experience, as my spouse and I started our marriage in a studio apartment in southern California.

But I can also say from experience that hunting through pre-existing homes–none of which are quite what you are hoping for–can be just as frustrating as remaining in a home that no longer suits you for whatever reason. If you are in a similar position, I would ask if you have considered having a new home constructed.

Many people hoping to move do not have the time or the patience to wait for a new home to be built from the ground up. But consider the benefits I am about to share with you and weigh them carefully with any disadvantages that may arise.

Location, location, location–those are the first three rules of real estate, right? So many families find a home they love that happens to be in a neighborhood they disapprove of, or the opposite occurs–they find a neighborhood they love, close to a great school for the children, etc., but the homes for sale do not thrill them in the slightest.

When you have a home built, you have more flexibility in terms of the locations you find appealing. If you live in an urban area, then you can branch out of the city and into the suburbs to obtain more space for less money.

Of course, there could be a commute into the city involved, but in newer developments, you can sometimes ask your company for a transfer if your company is expanding out into those areas.

Building your own home is an investment, especially if you do so in an area that is still expanding. I had a cousin that bought a house that had little retail or office space around it, but within five years, she sold it, and literally made hundreds of thousands of dollars more than she paid for it. It can definitely pay to be a pioneer!

Let us not forget the number one reason why you should consider constructing your home from the ground up: you can customize it to suit your needs. If you need four bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a two-car garage, then you can direct the architect to make it happen. This can eliminate the frustrations of having to compromise on a pre-existing home. What could be better than having your home, your way?
