Halloween is a great excuse to throw themed parties as the costumes and decorations get people into the party mood. Although Halloween has always been more celebrated in the United States it is getting far more popular here in the UK. There is nothing better than an autumn party as nights get darker and the party atmosphere truly begins. Here in this article we look at how to throw successful themed parties around the Halloween month and how to ensure that your party is both spooky and successful.

Halloween themed parties are probably the easiest out of all parties, mainly because the decorations are simple and very well known. Once you have decided what theme you want for your party then you can begin concentrating on how you are going to pull it off. Traditionally, Halloween themed parties usually have a ghoulish feel, with cats, witches, ghosts and monsters all coming together for a spooky shindig. Decorate your party venue with plastic toy bats, witches caldrons and skeletons which can be easily located in themed shops or hired from prop companies.

Punch is a great drink to serve at Halloween, especially if you can find a large witches caldron to serve your haunted brew. A simple recipe to make a scary punch is to mix orange juice, grape juice, cold water, sugar and ginger ale. This easy recipe will guarantee to get your party going and the spice from the ginger ale will give a nice kick. If you are feeling a little more adventurous then why not add some rum to the mixture.

Pumpkins are a must for a Halloween themed parties, they are easy to purchase in October and look great on a doorstep full of candles once it’s got darker. For a quirky twist why not carve some scary looking faces into green peppers? They will look great next to the larger pumpkins and look a bit like goblin faces. Another great decoration trick for Halloween is to make a sponge into a giant monsters foot! With washable paint you can then print some large, creepy footprints that appear at your doorstep.

Lastly make sure everyone at your party dresses up! Write on your invite that it is fancy dress only. This will ensure that all of your guests get into the party spirit and the Halloween one! If you have guests that turn up without dressing up, you can also keep some spare costume pieces such as a witch’s hat or some face paint. That way everyone will have a bloodcurdling time!
