You want to re-do one of the rooms in your home. Redecorating just one room in your home will often have an effect on the rooms near it. It is important, for this reason, to get your ideas together ahead of time. If you like the room next to your project room, you can draw on the feel of that room as well as all the other things about it you like to unify your home. This will also keep this new room from making you feel like you have to redecorate everything.

If you are planning to redo the room next door at a later time, you will want to consider that in the planning stages of picking paint colors as well as furnishings and fabrics. If you want to add more rooms to your home or remodel other parts of your home, then think about structural changes and plumbing beforehand so they do not mess up your plans for the future.
Here are a few tips to make sure everything goes as smoothly as can be expected.

1. Painting rooms the same color or different shades of the same color can blur the lines between rooms and keep your new project from looking like you imported a room from another house. Combine light, dark, and neutral versions of colors in one room, then make minor changes when doing other rooms.

2. Try keeping the flooring similar throughout your home. This can mean either similar colors or materials. If you have hard wood floors in some rooms of your home, you can pick a similar color carpeting for other rooms, or you can use one color wood for family areas and another for bedrooms. Area rugs that bring colors from one room into another will continue this idea.

3. Use textures in different rooms. If you have velvet drapes in your formal dining room, try finding a velvet couch for your office next door.

4. Patterns can be used the same way as textures with the same result. Tile that is black and white in your bathroom can be inspiration for black and white checked curtains in your daughters bedroom. Patterns with the same color scheme or patterns with reversed colors will do the same thing. If you have a black fabric in one room with spots of pink and green, try finding pink fabric with spots of black and green for another room.

5. Bring the spaces together architecturally as much as possible. You do not want a room with a low cieling and mission furniture next to a room with vaulted cielings and art deco furniture.
Above all just make your home a reflection of how you live.
