Why High Performance Blenders Do Not Come With A Glass Container?

You may be familiar with high performance blenders that you were able to buy in the retail stores that came with glass containers. Today, you can find only 1 hp blenders with glass containers. Glass containers are preferred over polycarbonate container material.

All three major high performance blender players, Vita Mix Corporation, Blendtec, and Waring have blenders ranging from 2 hp, to 3 hp, and even 3.5 hp motors. Because polycarbonate containers are started in machinery using Bi-Phenol (BPA) this has consumers concerned.

Bi-Pheonol however, according to the FDA is in polycarbonate blender containers not a health threat because it has been found in food which was made in subject blender containers. The company that makes BPA as well had suggested that Bi-Phenol is harmless. And both, Vita Mix and Blendtec, although they are now making BPA-Free containers, still have the regular BPA-containing blender jars in production as part of their commercial blender packages. Of course, these above statements made and containers with BPA still containing is highly suspect. Something is not right, correct?

Glass containers would be much better. They are a proven container and jar that has been used for decades in the home/consumer food production with blenders. However, factories have performed many tastes and glass has been found unsafe. In some tests, the glass container was unable to withstand the pressure created by a 2 hp blender. Certainly a 3 hp blender, or even and 3.5 hp blender would not be able to blend safely in a glass container.

Of course, BPA-free containers are the latest better alternative. And consumers like this alternative and are really not worried whether it is a marketing stunt to boost sales or it really prevents a health hazard. Waring is the only company that offers Stainless Steel containers for its high performance 3.5 extreme hp blenders for a substantial upgrade price.

While glass would be in favor because of leech-experience at hot temperatures and because of the see-through factor, Polycarbonate is really the best solution offer these three solutions. And even with a BPA-containing Polycarbonate Jar, the likelihood for leeching poising into the food is not a very big thing. You would have to heat up the content in the container quite a bit, probably over 140 degrees.

It takes already a Vita Mix 5200 blender, or Blendtec HP3A, or Waring MX1200XT blender over 4 minutes to blend and heat up a fresh raw soup to about 85 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Since the heating system is by friction only, it will take probably about 10 minutes. There is a definite noise issue at hand, at about 95 to 102 dB (of course solvable with sound enclosure). And it would not have any advantage anyway to heat up the raw soup that hot. It would probably destroy most nutritional content. Why even going raw and not just microwaving a soup from the can?

So, our bottom line question we like to provoke you to ask yourself is: You want a glass container. If not available because it shatters with a high performance blender in use, then why not using a BPA-containing jar? Or would you rather consider the Bi-Phenol Jar? And do you think that Stainless Steel might leech too?
